Sandra featured in Discovery – Cathay Pacific’s iconic inflight magazine
To celebrate the magazine revamp, the July issue of Discovery is being produced as a special collector’s edition with four separate covers – each based on the theme “The New Age of Discovery” – by four leading Hong Kong-based artists, including Katrina Teh, Michael Lam, Peter Ross and Sandra Rauch.
For the Discovery cover, Rauch sampled the iconic layered landscapes of Hong Kong’s street scene, from its neon signage to its notoriously dense crowds, onto a glass ‘canvas’. Her research involved a walking exploration of the city: ‘I experienced it all on foot, and I rode on trains and buses and took aerial shots using drones,’ she explains. ‘After a long day exploring the streets, I painted my main impressions of the city. That is how I put all the energy, lights, people and vibe of the city into one collage.’ Like many modern artists, Rauch is also an advocate of marrying art and technology.
